Message about the Center for Student Inclusion and Belonging

As part of our commitment to ´óÏó´«Ã½’s mission, care for our community, and continual improvement, we in the Division of Student Development regularly assess the current and future needs of our students. Over the past 10 months, we have been working hard to review our history, listen to our students, and benchmark against peer institutions. We are deeply grateful to the student groups who shared with us their desires and needs to thrive as students at ´óÏó´«Ã½.

As ´óÏó´«Ã½ continues to grow, develop, and evolve to meet the needs of our students, we are restructuring to develop a new center to be called the Center for Student Inclusion and Belonging (CSIB). We have been working towards an internal re-organization of its programs and initiatives to integrate and leverage resources in order to better serve all students as we look to the 2025-26 academic year.

The CSIB will be the home of our existing student initiatives and resources that are currently in the Center for Diversity & Inclusion and the Center for Black Student Excellence. Those initiatives are LGBTQIA+, Women of Color, First Generation College Students, Undocumented Student Programs, Black Student Excellence, and Social Justice Education which includes Ramblers Analyzing Ideas. The CSIB structure will provide an avenue to build on and expand what we currently have in place, especially as the demographic of our students is changing.

´óÏó´«Ã½ remains deeply committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students, faculty, and staff. The development of the CSIB is ongoing, and we will continue to hear from our students, receive community input, and provide updates. The CSIB will be established by the end of May 2025 to align with the orientation season of our incoming class.

We welcome hearing from you as we treasure your insight. Feel free to reach out to Astrid Beltrán at abeltran1@luc.edu. We thank our community for the continued collaboration to make this new center the best it can be.
